Out Foxed!

Farmers take on a formidable fox in The Fantastic Mr. Fox

By Marni Weisz

Mr. Fox, his wife and their little foxes live under a hill near three farms. Those three farms are owned by three not-so-nice farmers. Every night Mr. Fox travels to one of those farms and takes what he needs to feed his hungry family. Stealing?

Well, yes. There’s no doubt about it. And the farmers have no sympathy for Mr. Fox just because he has to feed his brood. So, they join forces and mount a revolt against the poor critter, and they won’t stop until the little guy’s dead. But Mr. Fox is no dummy. He has a few tricks up his sleeve. In fact, he might just be a match for three not-so-nice farmers who refuse to share a little bit of their food.

The movie is based on a story by Roald Dahl, who also wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach. That should give you some idea of the absurd and wonderful world inhabited by one Mr. Fox.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox opens November 13
