Food falls from the sky in the animated adventure Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs
By Ingrid Randoja
Flint Lockwood is a genius.
When he was a little boy growing up in the town of Chewandswallow, Flint would invent lots of strange gadgets — one of his wackiest was a remote-control TV with legs...and it ran off! Flint dreamed of one day becoming a famous inventor, despite his father’s belief his son was misguided.

Flint shows the world just how smart he is when he comes up with a
contraption to solve the problem of world hunger! Flint’s invention
uses water to make food, and the food is delivered using weather
systems. That means giant portions of food, including hamburgers,
meatballs and vegetables galore, fall out of the sky like rain.
However,
Flint can’t exactly control the weather, which means if there’s a storm
system brewing, or a natural disaster hits, then there’s
a torrential food downpour, which can cause damage — imagine a giant
pancake landing
and crushing a school!
It’s up to Flint to find a solution to his unstable food-producing
mechanism, and at least he’s got some help in the form of weathergirl
Sam Sparks. Sam is covering the story for TV and gets to know the sweet
— but bumbling — Flint, and shows him she’s a lot smarter than people
realize. Can the genius and the weathergirl put a stop to the food
fallout?
