Junior Movie Reviews

In our Winter issue of Famous Kids we asked you to send us reviews of movies you saw, and you didn’t let us down!

Enchanted

“Hi my name is Marissa and I just watched Enchanted with my class. It was awesome. All my friends loved it and my friend Ashley was beside me and she said that the movie was so cool, and I think so too. It was exciting and magical. The evil witch thought that she couldn’t be defeated but in the end she was wrong! The worst part was when the evil witch tricked Giselle by eating a poison apple, that was really, really bad. Well that’s all I’m going to tell you because I don’t want to spoil the ending.”

Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium

“Yesterday my Grade 6 class went to see Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium. I thought the movie was great! I would recommend the movie to anyone who loves magic. Out of ten I would give the movie a 9. When I came into the theatre I thought it would be a boring movie but once I came out of the theatre I kept on saying “Wow, that was an awesome movie!’”
Jonathan L. Aylmer, ON

“Today I watched Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium with my mom and sister. My favourite part was when the boys were playing with the hat collection. It was really funny.... The one thing I didn’t understand is that it ended when Mahoney was magical. I strongly recommend this to you if you need a good laugh and believe anything can happen.”
Katie M. Toronto, ON

The Golden Compass

“I watched The Golden Compass on the weekend with my family and we all found it very entertaining. It has an excellent storyline and plot, and the end sets it up for a great sequel. My favourite part was when the two armoured bears fought. I thought for sure that Iorek was going to be killed. I would recommend it to anyone that likes action-packed scenes and great drama. This was the definite highlight movie of 2007 for me.”
Jordan S. Surrey, BC

“Lyra and her soul Pantalaimon, who walks beside her instead of inside, go looking for their friend Roger, who’s been kidnapped. But on the way they get swept up in the Arctic winds and covered in Dust, the very cause of a coming war that she’s in the middle of! But more than a war, this is the start of a battle between universes full of betrayal and loss...that you won’t want to miss seeing.”

Alvin and the Chipmunks

Alvin and the Chipmunks is a wonderful family movie about sticking together, and that fame and fortune isn’t everything. I liked how the people animated the chipmunks to show clothing details, fur, and facial expressions. Ever since I saw this movie, I wondered how they turned the actors’ voices into chipmunk-like voices. For a rating, I would scale it a 9 1/2. I would recommend this movie to people who love comedy, and cute animation.”
Erin V. Egbert, ON

“I give A+ to Alvin and the Chipmunks. My favourite part in the movie was when Dave opened the dishwasher and found Alvin in there taking a shower. Oh, and by the way — I thought the music was totally awesome too!”
