Up, Up and Away!

A crusty codger and a young boy book passage on a flying house in the animated adventure Up

You know how grumpy old men are famous for yelling, “Hey you kids, get off of my lawn!” Well, 78-year-old Carl Frederickson is exactly that kind of grumpy old man, but very soon he’s not going to have a lawn to worry about.

Carl has lived for a long, long time in a rickety old house that has seen far better days. Truth is, he didn’t have much lawn to begin with. The bustling city grew around his little house, leaving him with little more than a plot of land in the middle of a noisy construction zone.

But Carl refused to move — even though he always dreamed of seeing the world. Carl finally gets his chance to travel when his house is lifted off the ground and carried away by an enormous bunch of colourful balloons. Little does Carl know that he has a stowaway. Eight-year-old Russell, a neighbourhood boy, was on Carl’s front porch when the house took off.

Now the mismatched pair is stuck with each other on a journey to faraway places they never dreamed they’d get to see.
