Birth Place: The planet Zenn-La
Childhood/Early Life:
Norrin was born and raised on Zenn-La, a technologically advanced world where crime, poverty and disease no longer exist. The Zenn-Lavian people are devoted to experiencing pleasure and fun. But not Norrin — he was raised to study and learn. His knowledge proved valuable when he was a young man and an alien invader named Galactus penetrated Zenn-La’s neglected defense shield and threatened to consume the planet for his own energy needs. Norrin convinced the Council of Scientists to let him fly a spaceship to meet Galactus. Norrin then offered Galactus a deal — spare Zenn-La and Norrin would become his slave, seeking out uninhabited planets for the giant Galactus to take over. Galactus agreed.
The Transformation:
Galactus changed Norrin into a cosmic superbeing named the Silver Surfer. The Silver Surfer absorbs and manipulates cosmic energy. He doesn’t require oxygen to breathe, and no longer eats, drinks or sleeps. Riding his almost indestructible silver board, he can reach lightspeed, enter hyperspace and even see into the past and future. He can alter his size, restructure matter and fire energy blasts.
