C’mon, the guy works at a nuclear power plant even though we’re guessing he couldn’t pass a Grade 2 science class.
There was that one episode where he caused a nuclear meltdown while inspectors were touring the plant, and then in another episode he was replaced at his station by a chicken pecking at buttons.
But something must have gone really wrong now, because this summer Homer does something so bad, so dangerous, so boneheaded, that the makers of the animated TV show The Simpsons had to turn the story into a full-sized feature film.
Homer wasn’t terribly popular with the people of Springfield before the accident, so you can imagine how angry everyone is with him when they find out he’s responsible for such a big mistake.
Will the rest of the Simpson family turn against Homer too? His wife Marge is pretty understanding, but even she can get frustrated with the big guy every now and then. Bart’s such a troublemaker that he should understand Homer’s flaws, but he’s just a 10-year-old kid. Sometimes they have trouble with sympathy. And brainy Lisa, what will she do? Will she try to figure out a way to fix the situation, or will she wash her hands of her embarrassing dad once and for all?
And if your favourite Springfield residents happen to be those outside of the Simpson clan, fear not. We have it on good authority that Moe, Mr. Burns, Smithers, Krusty, Barney, Milhouse, Willy, Skinner, Reverend Lovejoy and Ned Flanders (not to mention Rod and Todd) all make appearances too.
