In Shorts, a space rock makes wishes come true. That’s a good thing, right?

Eleven-year-old Toe Thompson lives in a very boring suburb called Black Falls. It’s very boring because all of the houses look the same and all of the adults work for the same company — Black Box Unlimited Worldwide Industries Incorporated.
Black Box Inc. produces a gadget called Mr. Black’s Black Box, an incredibly popular all-in-one communication device and just generally useful gadget.

Then one day an even better gadget falls from the sky and hits Toe
right on the head. This gadget doesn’t look anything like the Black
Box. In fact, it looks like a glowing, multi-coloured rock. And it’s so
much cooler than the Black Box — the rock grants wishes to whoever
holds it in their hands.
Soon the other kids in the
neighbourhood are fighting Toe for the rock. And some kids wish for
things like spaceships, giant boogers and crocodile armies, and then
lose control of them. So the neighbourhood is teeming with escaped
wishes that are making their own decisions and doing their own things.
But the real danger doesn’t arrive until the adults get their hands on the rock, and try to make their wishes come true.
