The Great Debaters

Director: Denzel Washington (Antwone Fisher)
Story: Washington’s second stab at directing depicts the true story of Melvin Tolson (Washington), a professor at the all-black Wiley College in the American South of the 1930s. Tolson, a political activist on the side, puts together a first-class debating team and inspires them all the way to the national championships, breaking colour barriers along the way.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets
Stars: Nicolas Cage, Jon Voight
Director: Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure)
Story: When his great-great-grandfather is accused of being in on Lincoln’s assassination, treasure Hunter Benjamin Gates (Cage) sets out to clear his name. Fortunately for the film’s plot, the only way he can do this is by kidnapping the U.S. President and stealing his Book of Secrets, which also contains the truth about Area 51, the moon landing and JFK’s killer.

Story: This Oscar-nominated animated feature takes an honest
look at the complicated life and feelings of a ballsy Iranian girl

graphic novel.
